Extracting Every Last Bit Of Speed From Laptops

     Yesteday I found some peculiarity with the default multiplier setting, it is shown in CPU-Z as 20x when running benhmarks, instead of what the B960 is capable of, at.22x. Basically that means the processor only runs at 1995 MHz frequency max. instead of the advertised 2200 MHz.

     Yay, this opened up a possibility to gain at least 10% of framerate! :D I suggest people who want to improve gaming performance like me to check whether their CPU is reaIly running at their full speed.

    In the 1st picture, notice the Core Speed is only 798.3 MHz. It is because our PC automatically switches down the CPU speed when no application is running, and increasing it to full speed when running resource-intensive tasks, like opening facebook, youtube and gaming.

      Unfortunately however, some laptops will not kick into full throttle even when running CPU-intensive tasks, as you can see in the second picture. This make the games run slower than normal. In my case, it is running at 1995.7 MHz.

     To fix this problem, I did some research and found a tool on the net that can adjust the multiplier, namely ThrottleStop. It is like overclocking except that it isn't because I only adjusting the underclocked CPU multiplier back to the factory spec.

     Just  tick the Set Multiplier option and increase the value to the max and viola, we're done :)

     Since we have increased the clock speed, so does the temperature rise. It is recommended that you allocate just a single core to your games to alleviate heat problems, especially when using the integrated GPU. Many games run better on single core anyway.
